Dr. L. Karpagavalli is a highly experienced Radiation Oncologist with over 16 years of clinical expertise in treating a wide spectrum of cancer patients using advanced radiotherapy techniques. She is currently serving as an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Government Arignar Anna Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Kancheepuram, and also practices as a visiting consultant at leading multispecialty hospitals across Chennai including Apollo Cancer Hospital (Teynampet), Kauvery Hospital (Alwarpet), V.S. Hospital (Chetpet), Rela Hospital (Chromepet), Dr. Rai Memorial Cancer Hospital (Teynampet), Dr. Kamakshi Memorial Hospital (Pallikaranai), and Global Gleneagles Hospital (Perumbakkam).
Being graduated from the esteemed institution, Govt Medical College Kottayam, Kerala, which is the first Govt Medical College in India to have a Linear Accelerator, her teacher and Professor is now the President of National AROI (Association of Radiation Oncology of India). She now serves the role of CORE COMMITTEE member of AROI, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry chapter.
Her clinical focus includes High Precision Radiotherapy, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, SRS, and Brachytherapy for head-and-neck, breast, gynecological, and pediatric malignancies. With a strong academic foundation and extensive hands-on experience in both teaching and clinical oncology, Dr. L. Karpagavalli is recognized for her patient-centric approach and commitment to cancer care excellence.
Apart from Curing cancer patients, she has special interests in Cancer prevention clinics, cancer survivor ship program, Rehabilitation of cancer patients, Pain and Palliative care.
                            Dr. L. Karpagavalli has over a decade of experience in Radiation Oncology, having served in several esteemed medical institutions across Tamil Nadu and Kerala. She began her career as a Senior Resident in the Department of Radiotherapy at Government Medical College, Kottayam, where she worked for one year. She then served as a Consultant Oncologist at the Salem Cancer Institute, Tamil Nadu, for two years, gaining valuable clinical and patient care experience.
Following this, she joined Chengalpattu Medical College as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology, where she dedicated three years to academic and clinical teaching. She later advanced to the position of Senior Assistant Professor at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital, Omandurar Estate, Chennai, serving there for five years.
Currently, she holds the position of Associate Professor at the Government Arignar Anna Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Kancheepuram. Alongside her academic and government service, she is also a Visiting Consultant at several reputed hospitals, including Kauvery Hospital (Alwarpet), V.S. Hospital (Chetpet), Dr. Rai Memorial Cancer Hospital (Teynampet), Rela Hospital (Chromepet), Dr. Kamakshi Memorial Hospital (Pallikaranai), Gleneagles Global Hospital (Perumbakkam), and AG Hospital (Tambaram and Chromepet), where she continues to provide expert oncological care.
                            With extensive experience in the field of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Karpagavalli has gained comprehensive expertise in advanced external beam radiotherapy techniques, including 3D CRT, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, SRS, and fSRS, ensuring precise and effective treatment outcomes. Her clinical skills also encompass brachytherapy procedures both interstitial and intracavitary, as well as intraluminal techniques performed under USG, CT, and MRI guidance for accurate dose delivery.
She demonstrates strong technical proficiency in radiation treatment planning, utilizing advanced systems such as Varian 2300 CD, Varian TrueBeam, Elekta Synergy, Elekta Infinity, Saginova, and Monaco TPS, with particular emphasis on tumor contouring and precise treatment execution for solid malignancies. In addition, she has substantial experience in pediatric oncology management and pain and palliative care, focusing on patient-centered and compassionate treatment.
Over her 13 years of teaching experience, Dr. Karpagavalli has been actively engaged in mentoring M.B.B.S., M.D., and Radiation Technology students, contributing significantly to academic development and clinical training in Radiation Oncology.
